WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT IN RELATION TO THE SURROUNDING SOIL MANAGEMENT OF TWO RESERVOIRS IN PINDORAMA/SP - A PRELIMINARY STUDY

Water quality monitoring of rural reservoirs is essential to detect the effects diffuse pollution sources such as agricultural activities on water quality. This paper describes a preliminary study that uses multiparameter probe and total phosphorus analysis characterize compare two in Pindorama/SP surrounded by active plantations, noting one them has its surface filled with floating macrophytes. The reservoirs’ areas were characterized, physicochemical parameters made strategic sampling points. Elevated concentrations detected both reservoirs, being hypothesized source this nutrient runoff byproducts from surroundings. reservoir macrophytes had greater concentration was characterized eutrophic state, thus explaining overpopulation they can be consequence eutrophication process. Lower levels other may explained morphological characteristics presence more consolidated riparian forest. To reduce environmental impacts contamination it proposed practices for adequate soil management surroundings, increasing circulation, sustainably retaining sources, could implemented control eutrophication.
